COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Welcome to week five of the 2021 high school football season ladies and gentlemen! I just can't believe it is already half way through the season?! We are going to keep covering a bunch of different athletes this fall and this week we will be talking more about some real good prospects in the Central Ohio area.

Brock Kidwell (ATH / New Albany / 2022): Kidwell is simply pure dominance, very well rounded, or we can just say when he is on the field he is the best player on the field. He is 5’10 185 pounds and man does he pack a punch! No matter if he has the ball in his hands or he is coming down from the safety spot you better just be ready for him to be bringing the boom. Very quick and has incredible vision of the field. He was an honorable mention all Ohio player last year at the D1 level. I think he should easily make the first team all state roster this year! Coaches you need to offer this kid, as the Dayton Flyers already have.

Benjamin Huefner (G / Olentangy Liberty / 2022): Huefner stands 6’3 300 pounds which is a very good size for an offensive guard, some may say for him to lose some weight but that is good size for a college guard. He is athletic enough to pull and his footwork looks great when doing so, and he can also fall back in pass pro fairly smooth. If you're a college looking for a down for down guard who isn't going to get gassed at his size, then Huefner is who you need, not want. He also has a 6’8 wingspan which is ridiculous for a guard. The senior is as strong as an ox as he benched 225 pounds for 30 reps - something most players at the NFL Combine can’t do any given year.

L.B. Towns Jr. (WR / Linden McKinley / 2022): Towns is elusive and a speedster and has had a great start to his senior season on the football field. While he and his family are primarily known for what they can do on the hardwood, LB has the tools to play at the next level for possibly both sports. He is 5’9 155 pounds but that doesn't stop him no matter how big or small the defender is across from him. He will make plays and doesn't think twice when it is happening. Colleges could really use him in the slot and on special teams. He could develop into a really impressive football player. The senior also has a great academic profile and is one of the hardest workers you’ll ever find. Absolutely coachable player!

Andrew Stamp (SS / Olentangy Liberty / 2022): Stamp has been on a streak for the Patriots this season playing a big role and has stepped up to the occasion. He has great reaction speed and hand eye coordination making hard interceptions seem easy. I can see him playing lower D2/D3 at the next level and seeing some early playing time due to the level he can get to! This kid is a hidden gem that needs to be found.

Darius Love Jr. (Center / DL / Westland / 2022): Love is a complete unit at 6’3 300 pounds, as he cut 30 pounds this summer and is stout as can be especially for the two positions he plays. Very impressed by his technique and the jump he made from junior year to senior year. I know there is plenty of football to be played but it's amazing how much more smooth his game is this year and he has such a high IQ for his role on both sides of the ball. Any college who lands this young man will be very lucky because his character is just as good as his game!

Chase Plantz (RB/LB / Bloom Carroll / 2023): Plantz stands at 6’0 195 pounds and plays two big roles for both offense and defense for a powerhouse football team that has yet to take a loss this season. I can see him being recruited more for RB just with his size alone and he has some speed but that will get better as time comes with development and training some little technique things. But from a heart stand point and work ethic he will get the job done for you any and every time he is called upon. 

Rasheem Biles (WR/ CB / Pick Central / 2023): Biles is 100% the best football player in his class in the state of Ohio who still has yet to be offered. He is the prototype in size for both his positions standing 6’2 180 pounds. He plays in the box on defense sometimes, and is just a hitter! There is nothing more to it. He can cover against the best of them, and the kid is a ball hawk and will contest any and every ball he can get near. Also has the speed on offense to create separation that is what is really wanted by most colleges. This kid is D1 FBS without a doubt in my mind and it will happen after he drops his final season highlight if not earlier. 

Will Smith (DL / Dublin Coffman / 2023): Smith at 6’3 250 pounds has two offers so far from Miami (OH) and Marshall. But this kid is IT. He checks all the boxes of an interior defensive lineman he has the height, weight, and long arms, also is quick and can shed blocks at will. He is the heart of the Rocks defensive line and will be molded into one of the top 2023 DL in the state by time his senior year comes around. For college coaches, I would personally get on him as soon as you can! He is the son of the late, great Ohio State and NFL defensive lineman Will Smith, who was the heart of the 2002 national champion Buckeye defensive line and also won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints.

Alec Boyd (QB / Central Crossing / 2022): Boyd is a very mobile QB. I could compare him to the likes of a Kyler Murray in terms of style only. He is 6’0 185 pounds, has a nice arm on him, needs to work on his vision down field passing but he can make plays without a doubt. He also runs the ball extremely hard and sometimes it's scary, not for him or his team but for opponents because he will run you over without hesitation and then go rush for a 70+ yard touchdown.

Matthew Papas (QB / Grove City / 2024): Papas has made Grove City have to change their offensive scheme from the traditional wing T to actually running a smooth spread. With Papas under center, he has the ability to truly pick your defense apart and he has put that on display here this year. Even though it's been a rough start for his team, Papas has shown why their offense can be very special in years to come. When Papas has time in the pocket, he is going to use it wisely and throw a great ball. However, if it breaks down, he can extend the play and keep his eyes open downfield while escaping the pocket. While he is still young, Papas has a bright future where like White, he will be relied upon at the QB spot for the next two and a half years.
