Spotlighting some of the top talent in Central Ohio this season

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Welcome to week seven of the 2021 high school football season everybody. It's been an insane first half of the year! We are covering a handful of different athletes in this week’s Recruiting Blitz. We will be talking more about some really good prospects who need a light shined on them.

J’sun Gardner (CB / Bishop Ready / 2022): Gardner is the complete and utter definition of a hitter. He stands 5-foot-11, 160 pounds, is very swift in coverage, and is really aggressive when it comes to locating and coming down with the ball. He also has a 3.8 cumulative GPA so he gets the job done in the classroom just as much as he does on the field! He also can be seen playing some special teams and is sure to take advantage of it, zooming down the field making open-field tackles look easy.

Zachariah Walton (DE / Kipp Columbus / 2022): Walton is 6-foot-2, 215 pounds and if he was to add about 30 pounds of muscle he could move over to the inside of the defensive line and be scary good or could even move to outside linebacker with his speed and quick step. He is not afraid to take on a pulling tackle or guard and will stick it right to them and shed them then make the tackle. He is a late bloomer and has been developing very well over his high school career.

Zyreek Brunner (RB / Eastmoor Academy / 2022): Brunner may not be the biggest back at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, but he sure does play like it. Such a dominant runner, makes big plays when they are needed, and is sure to make his impact be felt each game! In half a season he has racked up over 600 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns (did I mention just in 5 games!) Colleges don't hesitate to take a shot on this young man. The film doesn't lie.

Tyree Johnson (LB / Gahanna Lincoln / 2022): Johnson is praised by his teammates and when someone like Jaden Yates is talking you up not just about your play but also the type of person you are, you have to take notice. When you turn the film on you see a young man who is running around and totally dominating. He may be 5-foot-8, 185 pounds, but there is no one or nothing that is going to stop him! He is also really good in space. He plays like he is the biggest kid on the field and it's obvious he has the biggest heart and plays every play with it. If you're an NAIA or D3 you need to get on him as fast as you can!

Colton Powers (LB / FB / Marysville HS / 2023): Powers', the younger brother of Ohio State commit Gabe Powers, is 5-foot-11 ½, 190 pounds and he is very forceful and powerful when he comes up and can really lay the wood to opposing players. He can also be caught running the ball from the fullback position as his number was called on in overtime to win the ball game, showing how much he is trusted and able to turn the switch on in the clutch and just simply be that guy. This young stud has been a major player for the Monarchs and looks to continue that for the rest of this year and next season.

JJ King (WR / Grove City / 2024): King is 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, has some good speed and is capable of pulling down jump balls with some of the best of them. He is also very good in space and much more physical than people would expect out of him. We think that he could potentially have a blow-up junior year if he sticks to the process and keeps his heart into it.
