Taking a look at some Central Ohio standouts heading into week nine of the season

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Welcome to week nine of the 2021 high school football season everybody. We look to speak on a few very swell athletes in this week’s DJRS Recruiting Blitz. We will be talking more about some really good prospects who need some brightness on them for week nine!

Jalen Carpenter (TE / DT / DeSales / 2022): Carpenter is standing around 6-foot-3 230 pounds and has been playing his tail off this season for this historical program. You can more times than not see him knifing through the A or B gap and getting in with ease vs slow offensive guards, and making plays behind the line of scrimmage accounting for many tackles for a loss. He also comes in at tight end and they use him to pull as a very athletic tackle and he just takes guys for a ride and this is very good for him as he has had an amazing offseason routine and not many guys can stick to it as he did. Now it is all paying off. Carpenter will be rewarded by earning scholarships from D2 level programs when the season concludes. Don't be surprised when some top D2 programs move on him!

Caleb Turner (OG / DT / Reynoldsburg / 2022): Turner is stout at 6-foot, 290 pounds. He is very good on the defensive side of the ball as he uses his size to clog up the running gaps and he does it very well along with keeping his focus on where the ball is and being able to get in on every run play. He will be able to play Division II or NAIA football and I think if he gets down to 275 pounds he will be much more agile and quick which will help with his explosiveness off the ball. He has also been making do on the offensive line at the guard spot and has been able to pancake sloppy defensive linemen and also moving well from side to side to pick up any type of blitz. Get on him if you want a hard-nosed big man!

Richard Dodson (WR / DB / London / 2022): Dodson seems to be playing his best football right now for the Red Raiders and at 6-foot, 180 pounds he is moving well in and out of his routes and beating defenders in one-on-one situations for deep balls. When on defense, I like how he can play sideline to sideline and in coverage very well and seems like he has really adapted to the system over the years and trusted the process better than many people and has stuck to the grind. He has added some speed from year to year and has gotten much more muscular and looks much more like a true DB which is good for his stock to rise.

Amare Jenkins (QB / Dublin Scioto / 2022): Jenkins, at 6-foot-3, 175 pounds, has been quite impressive with the numbers he has been putting up this season, most of the time only coming from one half of football. He does most of his damage with his arm and his capability to read defenses, but he can scramble around the pocket and move well enough to extend plays when it comes to that situation. He will be sure to be playing on Saturdays as you can't deny his work ethic and his willpower to get better every chance he gets.

Tehron Spencer (CB / WR / Reynoldsburg / 2023): Spencer is a smooth 6-foot, 155 pounds and has made it look very easy playing corner, which is arguably one of the hardest positions to play on the football field. He breaks in and out of his back pedals very beautifully. In the bump and run coverage, he executes it amazingly.  Spencer is such a high-level athlete and has the speed and quick burst to keep up with anyone you line up against him. I look forward to watching him the rest of the season and what he does within the next year.

David Alabi (LB / DE / Pickerington North / 2023): Alabi is a huge presence with or without pads on. He is 6-foot-2 230 pounds and is built like a machine. And plays like one at that. Alabi has made a huge impact for the Panthers on the defensive side of the ball. His physical presence is always felt no matter who the opponent is. Colleges will be recruiting him at a high level as he has power five size and ability, he is just gathering his film at this time in order to make this happen. Alabi is a major reason the Panthers season has gone the way it has and will make a great run in the playoffs.

Isaac Perkins (OT / OG / Gahanna Lincoln / 2023): Perkins can possibly be one of the better tackles in Central Ohio and still has another year of high school football to be played as the best is yet to come. He is 6-foot-4, 275 pounds and he plays some very sound football and really gets me charged up watching his tape as he is very aggressive and physical. This is what you like to see in offensive linemen. He has the chance to be very special and the amount of training he has put himself through and hours of grinding has got him to where he is and this young man has a very high ceiling.
