COLUMBUS, Ohio -- With just over two minutes left, Coach Matthew “Bubba” Kidwell and his team had little hope of winning as they faced a 19-7 deficit. Yet there would be no stopping the Eagles in those final moments as they would win, capping off the unbelievable comeback.

New Albany defeated Pickerington North 20-19 on Friday night at Panther Stadium behind two touchdowns by senior running back Jadyn Garnes.

The Eagles (9-0, 6-0 OCC-Ohio) secured a share of the league title with the victory while the Panthers (7-2, 5-1 OCC-Ohio) fell for the second time all year.

The first quarter was uneventful with neither team scoring.  New Albany senior quarterback Brock Kidwell would fumble resulting in the game's first turnover.

Pickerington North's offense would find a spark in the second quarter first with a 22-yard field goal followed by a 2-yard punch-in by senior running back Dawaun Green just before the half.

Garnes would score his first touchdown in the third quarter blazing past the Panther defense for a 52-yard score.

Pickerington North would score a field goal and another touchdown on a 95-yard receiving touchdown by senior receiver Eli Coppess in the fourth quarter giving them a 19-7 lead.

New Albany would regain the ball with a little over two minutes to go.   They would quickly score on a 24-yard touchdown pass to Garnes.

The Eagles’s defense would hold strong on leading to a quick drive and a 7-yard rushing touchdown by Kidwell to give them the lead with 30 seconds left.

Pickerington North will look to rebound  with a win against Lincoln next Friday night.

New Albany will hope to finish the season undefeated with a win against Westerville Central next week.
